2012 College Interview Skills Workshop was hosted on Jan. 29th
HC’s PTO “College Interview Skills Workshop” was held on Jan 29th and host to 150 Hinsdale Central Parents and Students. The Workshop’s objective is to give Junior/Sr. students the opportunity to participate in actual one-on-one interviews with Executive Recruiters, Alum Interviewers and Industry HR and Professionals, giving students the opportunity to experience what an interview is truly like. The Interviews give students real-life, first-hand experience with what an interview with an Admissions Rep, College Alum, Coach or College Dept Chair would entail. The student’s interviews are video-taped for them to take home and personally see how they did in answering questions, posture, and body language.
While the Workshop’s primary objective is in giving students a one-on-one interview opportunity, the event this year was host to four stations in Hinsdale Central’s Library that addressed specific facets of the college application process;
§ “Where Do I Start?” College Reference Guides, Books and resources for Parents & Students, Hosted by Laila Alamuddin, Former Reader for Princeton University Applications, & Director of College Guidance at the American Community School in Beirut, Lebanon. Current: On the Executive Board of the Overseas Association of College Admission Counseling (OACAC).
§ “How to Navigate the Common App” - hosted by Admissions Rep, Jessica Root, Hope College
§ “How to write the Student Resume and Activities Profile, hosted by Admissions Rep Jill Sangl, Reg. Dir of Admissions, TCU
§ Naviance Training, by HC Guidance - Jim McGuire, Gina Maniscalco, Mike Litton
